Summary:
How Daylight Saving Time (DST) affects PowerView® Gen 3 shade schedules and what to do, depending on whether your system uses a PowerView® Gen 3 Gateway, to keep automated shade movements running on time.
Applies To:
PowerView® Gen 3, PowerView App (iOS and Android), Schedules, PowerView® Gen 3 Gateway
Daylight Saving Time can affect scheduled shade movements. PowerView® Gen 3 schedules run based on each shade’s internal clock, not the clock on your phone.
When the time changes, those internal clocks need to update so schedules continue to run at the correct times.
Note: If you live in a region that does not observe Daylight Saving Time, your system is not affected and no action is required.
Homes With a PowerView® Gen 3 Gateway
If your system includes a PowerView® Gen 3 Gateway, shade clocks should update automatically.
To ensure schedules stay accurate:
Confirm the gateway is plugged in and connected to the internet
Make sure the gateway is running the latest firmware
If shades appear out of sync after a time change:
Unplug the gateway.
Plug it back in.
Allow the gateway to fully reboot and update.
When the gateway is ready, the LED will turn solid blue, indicating a successful connection. Schedules should then operate on time.
Homes Without a Gateway (App-Only Systems)
If your system does not include a gateway, the PowerView App helps keep shade clocks updated.
To prepare for Daylight Saving Time:
Open the PowerView App and leave it running in the background overnight before the time change.
If the time change has already occurred and shades are operating off schedule:
Open the PowerView App.
Operate your shades (raise or lower them).
This interaction updates the internal clocks and restores correct schedule timing.
App Notifications
The PowerView App sends push notifications to remind users that Daylight Saving Time may affect scheduled automation.
To receive these reminders:
Enable push notifications for the PowerView App in your device settings.
