Integrate PowerView® Gen 3 with Apple® Home Using Matter

• The latest version of the PowerView App (3.12.1 or later) and a PowerView Account
• A PowerView Gateway connected to the Home, with the latest firmware (minimum 3.2.46)
• An iPhone or iPad with the Home app connected to your Apple account.
• Minimum version iOS 16.1 or iPadOS 16.1 is required for Matter enablement -  latest version is recommended
• An Apple device set up as a home hub (Apple TV (minimum 4th Generation), HomePod, or HomePod Mini).  

NOTE: When using iOS 18 or later, a Home Hub is highly recommended but not strictly required for local setup. 

1. Verify Gateway Connectivity and Firmware
   1. Confirm that your PowerView® Gateway is:
      • Connected to the PowerView Home
      • Connected to the home’s Wi-Fi network
      • Running firmware version 3.2.46 or later
   2. Check Gateway firmware:
      • Open the PowerView App
      • Go to More → Accessories → Gateways
      • Select your Gateway → Tap Info & Options
   3. Update Gateway firmware (if needed):
      • Press the P button on the back of the Gateway
      • LED will blink amber while updating
      • Once complete, the LED will show steady blue

2. Update PowerView Shade Firmware
   In the PowerView App: More → Firmware Updates.

Caution: Shades with outdated firmware will not work properly with Apple Home. 

3. Prepare Apple Home App for Integration
   1. Add your home to the iOS Home app, if not already present
   2. Add a Matter-enabled Apple home hub to your Home app:
      • Apple TV (4th generation or later)
      • HomePod (1st or 2nd generation)
      • HomePod mini

Note: For iOS 18 or later, a home hub is strongly recommended but not required for local setup.

Step-by-Step Instructions 

Open the PowerView App and follow the steps below:  

1. Select the correct home if you have more than one home.
2. In the bottom right-hand corner, select More.
3. Select Integrations.
4. Select Matter.
5. Press the Enable button. Wait while the gateway starts accessing the Matter services. This may take a few minutes.
   
   
6. Press Add to Apple Home on the next screen. 
   
   
7. Follow the on-screen instructions to add the gateway accessory to your Apple Home. Press the Continue button to advance each screen.
8. You may change the gateway's Bridge Name.
9. Pressing Identify will flash the gateway LED.
10. Add each shade to a room in your Apple Home and press the Continue button to advance each screen.
11. You may change the Blinds Name if you desire. For more information on tips for products with multiple services like Top-Down Bottom-Up or Duolite, etc., see the section at the end.
12. Pressing Identify will jog the shade.
13. Each shade in your PowerView home will present four screens to review as part of the Apple Home application shade acceptable process.
14. When you have completed adding all the shades, press Done, and you'll return to the PowerView App.   

Note: If your shades have multiple services (Top-Down Bottom-Up, Duolite, Independent Operable Liner, etc.), these shades will come into Apple Home as one shade with multiple services that should be renamed. For more information on how to handle products like this, see the Tips and Tricks for Products with Multiple Services section at the end.

Congratulations! Your shades are now ready to be controlled by the Apple Home app. At this point, your shades have been added to your Apple Home, and they will appear on all devices with access to your Apple Home. 

Using Voice Commands to Operate Shades 

PowerView® Automation supports voice control through Siri-enabled Apple devices. This allows you to operate individual window treatments, grouped shades (by room), or customized scenes.

To use Siri:

• Say “Hey Siri” followed by “Open,” “Close,” or “Activate”
• Include the shade name, room, or scene name

Example voice commands: 

• “Hey Siri, set Living Room Left shade to 50%”
• “Hey Siri, activate Good Morning” 

Important: Scenes and automations must be created within the Apple Home app. Existing PowerView® Scenes and Schedules do not transfer into Apple Home and must be recreated.

Tips and Tricks for Products with Multiple Services  

Window treatments with multiple services (Top-Down Bottom-Up, Duolite, A Deux, and Independent Operable Liner, secondary tilt control, etc.) will each come into Apple Home as one shade with multiple services that should be renamed. To ensure the best experience with voice operation, we recommend doing the following: 
 

Stacking Top-Down Bottom-Up or Duolite Shades

Voice commands for products with multiple service commands may not operate as expected if “Blinds” and “Blinds2” are not renamed. See the list of voice commands and associated shade behavior for Top-Down Bottom-Up and stacking Duolite shades to better manage expectations: 

For Top-Down Bottom-Up and stacking Duolite products, renaming the services to “Top” and “Bottom” and incorporating that into the vocal requests produces better results, as in the examples below: 

• Multi-Control Shades (Top/Bottom or Front/Back)
  • When a shade has multiple services (like Top-Down Bottom-Up or Duolite):
    • Tapping anywhere on the tile opens two sliders:
      • One for front shade or bottom rail
      • One for rear shade or top rail
    • These shades display two accessories:
      • Tapping the front shade again reveals:
        • A new slider
        • Tap the gear icon to access tilt control (if applicable)

• Aura Shades Only
  • Display three accessories:
  • Tapping anywhere on the tile opens two sliders:
    • Front Shade
    • Back Shade
    • Light Control
