Summary:
Motor noise in Silhouette® and Nantucket™ shades may vary based on motor type, shade size, design options, and installation surroundings.
Applies To:
Silhouette®, Nantucket™, PowerView® Gen3 (after Spring 2022), PowerView+™
Many factors contribute to noise levels in window treatments with PowerView® Automation, including shade size, product type, fabric, and hardware. Because each shade is custom-made, noise levels may vary even between similar products.
Two motor types are used in PowerView® Gen 3 and PowerView+™ shades: the 31 mm motor and the 23 mm motor. The 31 mm motor is slightly louder than the 23 mm motor. Shade size determines which motor is used, with larger shades typically requiring the 31 mm motor. The exact cut-off size varies.
Additional factors that may affect motor noise include:
Design options such as valances or cassettes
Mount type, as inside mounts can create different acoustics than outside mounts
Home surroundings, with hard surfaces like tile or glass amplifying sound more than soft furnishings
