Level Brackets for Even Shade Movement
If the shade raises or lowers unevenly:
- Check that the installation brackets are level and aligned. Look at both brackets from the side and front to make sure the headrail sits evenly without tilting. If one is higher or lower, adjust its position or place a thin shim between the bracket and the wall.
- Roll up the shade until the bottom rail is fully raised. This resets the fabric and bottom rail position so you can check alignment after leveling the brackets.
- Reinstall the shade and test the operation. Lower and raise the shade to confirm smooth, even movement.
Need to order brackets or shims? You can search for mounting hardware at parts.hunterdouglas.com to locate your bracket kit, which will include shims if they are compatible with your system.
Replace Brackets
If the installation brackets are missing, damaged, or misaligned, they can be replaced. This is the only in-home repair supported for Design Studio™ soft treatments.

Correct Fabric Skew
If the fabric pulls to one side while raising the shade:
- Lower the shade to the fully closed position.
- Lift the fabric gently near the roller tube.
- Apply a small strip of tape to the tube, on the opposite side of the skew.
- Raise the shade to check alignment.
- Repeat as needed until the skew is corrected.
Tip: Use multiple layers of tape if additional balance is needed.
Repair Service Eligibility
While bracket adjustments, bracket replacements, and fabric skew corrections can be done at home, all other repairs for Design Studio™ products require special tools, skills, or parts and must be completed by a qualified repair professional.
Repairs that may be available include replacing the control mechanism, replacing the motor, or changing the control side. However, Cordlock shades cannot be repaired.
