If your PowerRise® Platinum™ Bridge Kit blinks green and red after January 1, it’s due to a known bug that affects Apple devices. The app tries to complete a yearly time sync, but fails when location services are turned off. This only affects the first time the app is used after January 1 each year.
You may also experience this blinking if the Bridge or Gateway has been powered off and back on around that time. In some cases, the app may appear to lose all shade data temporarily.
Fix the Issue
To restore your connection, try one of the following:
Option 1: Turn On Location Services
- On your iOS device, go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services.
- Make sure Location Services is turned on (toggle is green).
- Scroll down and select the Shade Control app.
- Set location access to While Using the App.
- Reopen the Shade Control app and connect to your Bridge.
Note: If you turn off Location Services again, this issue will return the next January 1.
Option 2: Recalculate Sunrise and Sunset in the App
- Open the Shade Control app.
- From the home screen, go to Settings.
- Tap Recalculate Sunrise and Sunset.
- When prompted, confirm Yes to complete the update.
This fix will allow your Bridge to reconnect until the next annual time sync.
