Summary:
Repeaters extend the range of the PowerView® RF signal for larger rooms or multi-room applications. Use these steps to join a Repeater to a PowerView® Shade Network using either a remote or a hub. Instructions are included for both Gen 1 and Gen 2 Repeaters.
Applies To:
Legacy PowerView® (prior to Fall 2022)
About Repeaters
Repeaters extend the range of the Radio Frequency (RF) signal from the PowerView® Pebble Remote, PowerView® Surface, or PowerView® Hub when used with the PowerView® App. This improves reliability in large rooms or multi-room installations.
Best practice: Join Repeaters to the Hub network during installation and setup. Additional Repeaters can also be added later using either a Hub or a Remote.
Pairing a Repeater Using a Remote
For Gen 1 Repeaters
Plug the Repeater into an outlet. A solid green light will appear, showing it is receiving power and ready to join.
On the remote, press and hold the STOP button until the indicator lights on the remote blink. (This puts the remote into programming mode.)
Hold the remote close to the Repeater and press STOP again while still in programming mode.
The green light on the Repeater will go out, confirming it has joined the network.
For Gen 2 Repeaters
Plug the Repeater into an outlet. The light will flash amber, showing it is powered and ready.
On the remote, press and hold the STOP button until the indicator lights on the remote blink. (This puts the remote into programming mode.)
Hold the remote close to the Repeater and press STOP again while still in programming mode.
The amber flashing stops, confirming it has joined the network.
Pairing a Repeater Using a Hub
For Gen 1 Repeaters with a Gen 1 Hub
Plug the Repeater into an outlet. A solid green light will appear, showing it is ready to join.
On the Gen 1 Hub, press and release the “P” button on the back.
The green light on the Repeater goes out, confirming it has joined the network.
For Gen 2 Repeaters with a Gen 2 Hub
Plug the Repeater into an outlet. The light will flash amber, showing it is ready to join.
On the Gen 2 Hub, press and release the raised “P” button on the back.
The amber flashing stops, confirming it has joined the network.
Best Practices for Gen 2 Repeaters
Always use the Discover function in the PowerView® App when adding Gen 2 Repeaters.
If Gen 2 Repeaters are paired without discovery, they will still work but will not receive automatic firmware updates.
The PowerView® App also allows you to adjust brightness and color of Gen 2 Repeaters after discovery.
