Summary:
On Apple devices, the first app use after January 1 triggers a time check. If Location Services is off, the PowerRise® app can’t complete that check and may show Connection Lost or appear as if data is missing. Turn on Location Services (and the app’s permission) to resolve it.
Applies To:
PowerRise®
Confirm you’re using an Apple device. This issue only affects iPhone/iPad.
Note: After January 1, a Bridge or Gateway that was unplugged/replugged may flash red and green. If it stayed powered, the app may take a long time to connect and look empty—both are normal signs of this bug.Turn on Location Services. On the device, go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services and turn the toggle on.
Set the app’s permission. In Settings > Privacy > Location Services, find Shade Control and set access to While Using the App.
Restart the app and connect. Force-quit Shade Control, reopen it, and let it connect to the Bridge/Gateway. Your shades and groups should reappear.
Alternate in-app fix (works until next Jan 1). From the app’s start screen, open Settings and choose Recalculate Sunrise and Sunset. When prompted, select Yes.
Keep it working next year. If you turn off Location Services later, expect the same behavior on the next January 1 and repeat the steps above.
Still not connecting? Make sure the Bridge/Gateway is powered and on your network, then try again.
