Change Batteries in Product
Legacy PowerView® shades use eight or 12 AA alkaline batteries, depending on the product configuration.
Remove the battery wand from the shade and open the battery compartment.
Check the orientation diagram printed on the wand. Insert batteries following the marked direction.
Use Duracell® or Energizer® for optimal performance. These brands feature distinct color cues—black and copper (Duracell) or silver and black (Energizer)—to aid correct placement.
Ensure no two like-colored ends touch, and the protruding (+) and flat (-) ends are aligned correctly.
Caution: A battery inserted backwards may be charged by others in the pack, causing damage or leakage. Always replace dropped or visibly damaged batteries, as internal damage may not be visible but can lead to leaks and wand failure.

Change Batteries in the Remote
To access the remote module:
Pebble® Remote: Slide your thumb into the indentation and lift to remove the remote module.
Surface Remote: Twist counter-clockwise to detach from its mounting plate, then push the module out from the back.
Use a small coin (such as a penny) in the back cover slot to twist and remove the battery cover.
Remove old batteries.
Insert new batteries with the positive (+) side facing up.
Replace the battery cover, aligning the ribs on the module with the grooves in the Pebble or Surface.
Gently press the module back into place until it is snug.
