Understand Remote Usage
Note: If Group 1 stays lit on the remote, your batteries are likely low.
Control Individual Groups
- Press and release the group number(s) (1-6) to select or deselect.
- Selected groups will illuminate.
- Press:
- Open to open the shade
- Close to close the shade
- Right Arrow or Left Arrow for vane, louver, rail, or slat adjustment
- Press Stop to halt movement at any point.
Use All Button
- Press and release the All button.
- Use directional arrows or Open/Close to operate all selected shades.
- Right arrow for vane, middle rail, louver or slat operation
- Left arrow for vane, middle rail, louver or slat operation
- Press Stop when the desired position is reached.
Use the Favorite Button
- Select group number(s) (1-6) or All.
- Press the Favorite button to move the shades to their saved favorite position.
Duette®, Applause® Top-Down/Bottom-Up & Honeycomb Duolite®
- Press group or all.
- Operation varies by rail position:
- Use Open to raise bottom rail
- Use Left/Right Arrows to adjust middle rail
- Use Close to lower rails
- Press Stop to pause.
Silhouette®, Nantucket™, Pirouette®
- Press group or all.
- With shade raised:
- Close to lower
- Left/Right Arrows to tilt vanes
- With shade lowered:
- Open to raise
- Close to close vanes
- Press Stop to pause.
Silhouette® Duolite® & A Deux™
- Press group or all.
- With front shade raised:
- Close to lower both
- Left/Right Arrows to control vanes
- With front shade down:
- Close lowers rear shade
- Open raises front shade
- Press Stop to pause.
Luminette®
- Press group or all.
- With vanes open:
- Close traverses and opens vanes
- Left/Right Arrows rotate vanes
- With vanes closed:
- Open traverses open
- Press Stop to pause.
Horizontal Blinds
- Manually lower blinds.
- Press group or all.
- Use Left Arrow to tilt down
- Use Right Arrow to open slats
- Open/Close centers slats
- Press Stop to pause.
Palm Beach™ Shutters
- Manual tilt also possible.
- Press group or all.
- Use:
- Left Arrow to tilt down
- Right Arrow to tilt up
- Open to center louvers
- Close to tilt closed
- Press Stop to pause.
Pair Remotes
Use this process to pair a target remote to a source remote. The source remote contains the group settings you want to copy. The target remote will receive those settings.
Before you begin:
- If no shades are currently joined to any group (1–6) on either remote, you can select either one to be the source.
- If shades have already been programmed, use the remote that controls them as the source.
To pair the remotes:
- Using a paper clip, press and hold the recessed programming button on the back of the target remote for 6–10 seconds.
- The group numbers (1–6) will flash twice on initial press, then again after 6 seconds.
- This means the remote is ready to receive programming.
- On the source remote, press and hold the stop button until the indicator lights begin blinking.
- This puts the source remote into programming mode.
- On the target remote, press and continue to hold the stop button.
- While holding the stop on the target remote, press and release the stop button on the source remote, then release the stop on the target remote.
- The group numbers (1–6) on the target remote will flash twice, confirming the remotes are now paired.
Join Product to Remote
Use this process to assign a shade to a group number on a remote.
Before you begin:
- Avoid holding the programming button on the shade headrail for more than five seconds.
- Complete steps 3 and 4 within five seconds to ensure successful pairing.
To join a shade to the remote:
- On the remote, press and hold the stop button until the indicator lights blink.
- This puts the remote into programming mode.
- Press and release the desired group number (1–6) on the remote.
- This assigns the shade to that group.
- On the shade, press and hold the programming button on the headrail.
- While holding the programming button, press and release the Open button on the remote.
- The shade will jog (move slightly) to confirm it has been successfully joined.
- Release the programming button on the shade headrail.
- Press and hold the stop on the remote until the indicator lights blink.
Remove Product from Group
Use this process to disconnect a shade from a group on the remote.
Before you begin:
- Do not hold the programming button on the shade headrail for more than five seconds.
- Complete steps 3 and 4 within five seconds to ensure the removal is successful.
To remove a shade from a group:
- On the remote, press and hold the stop button until the indicator lights blink.
- This puts the remote into programming mode.
- Press and release the group number (1–6) you want to remove the shade from.
- On the shade, press and hold the programming button on the headrail.
- While holding the programming button, press and release the Close button on the remote.
- The shade will jog (move slightly) to confirm it has been removed from the group.
- Release the programming button on the shade headrail.
- Press and hold the stop button on the remote until the indicator lights blink.
Duplicate Remote
Use this process to copy the group programming from one remote (source) to another (target). After duplication, both remotes will control the same groups.
Before you begin:
- The source remote contains the group programming you want to copy.
- The target remote will receive this programming and become identical to the source.
To duplicate a remote:
- Using a paper clip, press and hold the recessed programming button on the back of the target remote for 6–10 seconds.
- If needed, remove the back cover.
- The group numbers (1–6) will flash twice on initial press, then again after 6 seconds.
- The target remote is now ready to receive programming.
- On the source remote, press and hold the stop button until the indicator lights blink.
- This puts the source remote into programming mode.
- On the target remote, press and hold the All button.
- While holding All on the target remote, press and release the stop button on the source remote, then release the All button on the target remote.
- The group numbers (1–6) on the target remote will flash twice, confirming the duplication was successful.
Set Favorite
Use this process to program a new favorite position for your shade using the remote.
Before you begin:
- Move the shade to the position you want to save as the favorite.
- Do not hold the programming button on the shade headrail for more than five seconds.
- Complete steps 3 and 4 within five seconds to ensure successful programming.
To set a favorite position:
- Use the remote to move the shade(s) to the desired position.
- Press and hold the stop button until the indicator lights blink.
- This puts the remote into programming mode.
- On the shade, press and hold the programming button on the headrail.
- While holding the programming button, press and release the Favorite button on the remote.
- The shade will jog (move slightly) to confirm the favorite has been set.
- Release the programming button on the shade headrail.
Battery Replacement
Replace the remote batteries when button lights become dim or unresponsive.
To replace the batteries:

Remove the remote module:
- For a Pebble® Remote, slide your thumb into the indentation, gently lift, and remove the remote module from the Pebble.
- For a Surface Remote, twist the Surface counter-clockwise to remove it from the mounting plate. Push the remote module out from the back.

Remove the back cover from the remote module.
- Use a small coin (such as a penny) in the indentation to twist and open the cover.
- Remove the old batteries from the module.
- Insert two new batteries, with the positive (+) side facing up on both.
- Replace the back cover by aligning it and twisting it shut.

Reinsert the remote module into the Pebble or Surface:
- Align the ribs on the module with the grooves in the Pebble or Surface.
- Gently push until it is securely in place.
Mount Surface
Use this process to install the PowerView® Surface Remote on a wall or flat surface.
To mount the Surface:
- Choose a mounting location that’s easy to access and within line-of-sight of the shades.
- Mark the mounting spot lightly with a pencil.
- Choose one of the following marking methods:

Option A: Use the screw holes on the Surface mounting plate to mark the drill spots.
- Make sure the Hunter Douglas logo will appear upright and horizontal.

Option B: Use a small bubble level with a ruled edge to draw a straight, horizontal line about 1¾" long.
- Align the mounting plate screw holes along this line.

Option A: Use the screw holes on the Surface mounting plate to mark the drill spots.

Attach the mounting plate to the surface using the screws provided:

Drywall:
- Use a 7/32" drill bit to make pilot holes.
- Insert drywall anchors until they sit flush.

Wood:
- Use a 3/32" drill bit to create screw holes directly.

Drywall:

Prepare the Surface ring:
- Line up the cut-outs on the ring with the notches on the mounted plate.
- If the wall surface is uneven, insert foam spacers into the grooves on the back of the Surface ring.
- Secure the Surface ring by rotating it to the right until it locks firmly in place.

Insert the Surface remote into the ring:
- Align the raised notches on the remote with the indentations in the ring.
- Push gently until the remote sits snugly.
- The Hunter Douglas logo on the remote should appear upright and horizontal.
