Replace Clip-On Handle
Shades Manufactured before June 2016
Note: If your LiteRise® handle screws into the rail rather than clipping on, please work through your original dealer.
If your LiteRise® handle clips on, follow these steps:
- Hook the prongs of the handle onto the lip of the rail.
- Rotate the handle downward until it snaps into place.
-
If your product is Top-Down/Bottom-Up or Duolite®:
- Install the middle rail handle upside down, with the Hunter Douglas logo facing down.

Replace Screw-In Handle
Shades Manufactured after June 2016
Note: This is a difficult repair. If you are unsure about completing this process, we recommend contacting your dealer or installer.
To replace the handle, you will need a T-6 or T-8 Torx driver with a shaft longer than 2 5/8 inches.
- Remove one end cap from the bottom rail.
- Slide the bottom rail to expose the camlock assembly.
- For ⅜" pleats, also remove the rail plug.
- Use a flathead screwdriver to rotate the camlock into the unlocked position.
- Slide the magnet out of the way to access the screw. A magnetizer can assist with screw handling.
- Use the T-6 or T-8 Torx driver to remove the screw and old handle.
- Note: If the old handle uses T-8 screws, discard them and use the new T-6 screws provided with your replacement handle.
- Using old T-8 screws may damage the new handle.
- Insert the new handle onto the bottom rail.
- Ensure the Hunter Douglas logo is on top.
- Use a T-6 screw and Torx driver to secure the new handle.
- Do not overtighten.
- Slide the camlock back over until it snaps into place.
- Use the flathead screwdriver to lock the camlock.
- For ⅜" pleats, reinsert the rail plug.
- Slide the bottom rail back into place, and reinsert the end cap.

Remove Hidden Bracket
If you need to uninstall your shade you’ll need to safely remove it from the hidden brackets without damaging the headrail or mounting surface. These instructions for the hidden bracket apply only to LiteRise® shades manufactured before May 2009. For newer shades, uninstall instructions can be found in the Installation, Operation & Care Guide (IOC) for your product: Go to help.hunterdouglas.com → Scroll to Product Resources → Select your product → Click Installation & Operation → Open the matching Install & User Guide.

- Raise the shade all the way up.
- Place a flathead screwdriver between the mounting bracket and the headrail.
- Insert the screwdriver on either side of the bracket—not in the middle.
- Push the screwdriver upward and twist 90 degrees.
- The headrail will snap free from the bracket.
- Repeat for each bracket.
- Support the headrail until all brackets are released.
Use EasyAdjust™ to Level the Bottom Rail
Shades Manufactured after May 2012
Over time, the bottom rail of your shade may become slightly uneven due to use or installation. The EasyAdjust™ key lets you fine-tune each side of the rail to ensure your shade hangs level and looks its best. To use the EasyAdjust™ key follow the steps below.
- Lift the bottom rail and locate the adjustment pockets on the underside.
-
Insert a 7/64" Allen wrench (EasyAdjust™ key) into a pocket.
- The key is fully inserted when the ring on the key presses firmly against the pocket opening.
- Note: The key must be fully seated to avoid stripping the mechanism.
- If there are more than two pockets, adjust the outer pockets first. Then adjust the inner pockets as needed to maintain even tension.
- Slightly lift the bottom rail before turning the key.
-
Turn clockwise to raise that side of the rail, or counterclockwise to lower it.
- One-quarter turn equals approximately 1/4 inch of movement.
-
Raise and lower the shade after each adjustment to check for level alignment.
- Note: Do not pull down on the rail while turning the key.
Additional Notes
- For Top-Down/Bottom-Up shades, the adjustment pockets are located on the top side of the middle rail.
- For Duolite® shades, the middle rail pockets are found at the ends of the middle rail, inside the top cell of the lower fabric panel.
