Locate the Adjustment Components
Your Simplicity™ shade includes tension cords, a moving rail, and, in some cases, a support cord. These components control shade height, smooth operation, and leveling. Most adjustments begin by accessing the anchor rail.
Understand the Tension and Support System
- Tension cords keep the moving rail balanced and sliding properly.
- Slip knots inside the anchor rail adjust tension levels.
- Support cord (for shades over 36" wide or sloped installations) provides extra stability and must remain taut.
- Clamping screws and washers hold cords in place and can be adjusted if the rails are uneven.
Adjust Tension Cords
If the moving rail does not slide smoothly or won’t stay in position:
- Open the anchor rail and locate the tension spring and slip knot.
- Move the slip knot to the right to increase tension, or to the left to decrease tension.
- Do not stretch the spring longer than 5½".
Align the Moving Rail
If the moving rail is uneven when closed:
- Loosen the cord clamping screw.
- Slide the cord between the washers until the rail is parallel with the anchor rail.
- Retighten the screw to hold position.
Tighten the Support Cord (If Applicable)
Some shades include a support cord. If it appears loose:
- Loosen the support cord clamping screw.
- Pull the cord through the washers to increase tension.
- Tighten the screw and confirm the cord is taut.
Reinstall the Fabric Strip
If the anchor rail fabric strip was removed for adjustments:
- Center the strip on the rail.
- Insert one edge into the back channel.
- Gently bow the strip and press the other edge into the front channel.
Attach or Replace the Handle
If the handle is loose or missing:
- Align the handle holes with the moving rail holes.
- Use a Phillips screwdriver and the provided screws to attach.
- Do not overtighten to avoid damage.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
- Shade is hard to raise or lower: Confirm fabric isn’t caught in brackets, and rails are level.
- Shade raises unevenly: Lower the shade fully, then raise it to allow self-correction. Adjust cord tension if unevenness continues.
- Shade won’t fit brackets: Confirm brackets are level and flush with the surface.
