Shorten Cord Length
- Mount the Universal Cord Tensioner (UCT) in the desired position.
- Refer to the UCT installation kit for details.
- Pull each cord on the cord driver inside the headrail to locate the inactive cord (the one that doesn’t move the carriers).
-
Note: For split stack panels, locate the driver without the screw.
-
- Use needle nose pliers to pull the cord knot from the cord driver.
- Pull the cord taut until it moves easily through the tensioner,
- Mark the cord near the driver with a permanent marker.
- Remove the UCT, tie a double knot at the mark, and allow the knot to retract into the driver.
- Reattach the UCT and confirm smooth tension.
- Cut the excess cord below the knot.
Adjust Fabric Panel Length
Some units may not be able to reuse the original plastic adhesive strip. If the strip does not adhere in the new position, please contact your Hunter Douglas dealer for a replacement.
- Measure how much fabric you need to remove from each panel.
- If the bottom weights are connected, gently disconnect them.
- Carefully remove the panel by:
- Grasping the fabric hanger at both ends
- Gently twisting it downward to release the hooks from the carriers
-
Disconnecting the bottom weights by gently pulling them apart
- Lay the panel flat on a clean surface.
- If space is limited, roll the panel around the hanger to expose the bottom weight.
-
Use a flat-blade screwdriver to remove the end cap pin from the bottom weight.
- Slide out the snap slide end cap and remove the fabric from the bottom weight.
- Note how the folded flap at the panel’s bottom is arranged.
- Note how the folded flap at the panel’s bottom is arranged.
- Carefully remove the plastic strip from the fabric and save it if it is reusable.
- Lay the panel flat and mark the desired trim length at several points across the width.
- Use a straight-edge to draw a guide line.
- With sharp scissors, cut across the marked line on each panel.
- If the original plastic strip is reusable:
- Align and press it along the new panel edge.
- Carefully crease the fabric along the top of the strip—no ripples should remain.
-
Insert the panel into the bottom weight until fully seated.
Note: Do not pull on the fabric, as this may cause permanent damage.
-
Reinstall the snap slide end cap and insert the end cap pins back into the bottom weight.
- Reinstall the fabric panel into the headrail.
- Repeat this process for all remaining panels.
- Reconnect the bottom weights (if required).
- Use the wand or cord loop to open and close the shade, checking for smooth operation.
Straighten Panel Fabric
If the panel fabric appears creased or wrinkled at the bottom, it may be adjusted and straightened.
Note: Fabrics such as Point South, Del Sol, and Diamond Head may not allow reuse of the original plastic adhesive strip. If the strip no longer adheres properly, contact your Hunter Douglas dealer for a replacement.
-

- Slide the snap slide end cap back into place.
- Reinsert and press the end cap pin to secure the assembly.
Change Control Side
The control side for wand-operated panels can be changed with the shade installed or uninstalled.
Note: Changing the control side will reverse the panel orientation from the original order.
-
Slide the wand sleeve downward to expose the metal J-hook.
-
Disconnect the J-hook from the wand driver.
- Move to the opposite side of the headrail and connect the J-hook to the wand driver there.
-
Slide the wand sleeve back up to cover the J-hook and secure the connection.
