Attach Universal Cord Tensioner
- Slide the cord tensioner to the bottom of the cord loop.
- Insert a small screwdriver or similar tool through the screw hole at the base.
- Move the screw hold-down tot to the indicator line to release the safety mechanism.
- Secure the tensioner at the bottom of the loop per the Universal Cord Tensioner Installation Kit.
Caution: The shade will not operate unless the cord tensioner is secured. Proper installation is critical to reduce child-strangulation risk.
Attach Magnetic Hold-Down Brackets
Magnetic hold-down brackets help keep the shade aligned and stable, especially on doors or in areas where wind or movement is common.
- Lower the shade.
-
Place the bracket on the bottom rail, just inside the end cap.
- Hold the bracket in place while testing shade movement.
- Mark the screw hole and drill using a 3/32" bit.
-
Attach the bracket with screws provided.
Tip: The screw should be centered in the channel to allow for adjustment. -
Adjust position within the bracket channel as needed.

Replace LiteRise® Handle
If the handle is cracked, loose, or missing, it can make the shade difficult to operate and may lead to further wear on the rail. Replacing the handle restores smooth control and keeps the shade functioning as intended.
-
Locate the cover under the existing handle.
-
Pinch the cover and pull toward you to take the cover off.
- Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the handle.
- Place the new handle in place so that the hole in the handle and the whole in the bottom rail line up.
- Use a Phillips head screwdriver to screw in the new handle.
- Place the cover back on the handle.
Need to order a replacement handle? Go to parts.hunterdouglas.com, and search for "handle" then filter by the Vignette® product line to see the available colors.
Attach Designer Tassel
Use these steps if your tassel has come apart or the cord length needs adjustment. This style includes a two-piece design with a separate cover and outer body that snap together.
Insert the tassel cord through the hole in the top of the tassel cover (opaque piece).
Tie a knot at your desired cord length, then pull the knot inside the cover.
Trim the cord if needed.
Place the tassel body around the cover.
Squeeze the sides of the tassel cover together while sliding it into the tassel body until it clicks.
Tip: After reassembling, ensure the tassel is secure and the pieces don’t separate easily.
To Adjust Tassel Length
Grip both pieces of the tassel and gently separate them.
Slide the cover off and untie the knot.
Repeat the steps above to retie and reinstall at a new length.
Need to order this tassel? Go to parts.hunterdouglas.com, and search for "Tassel Cover" to pick an available color, along with the clear Tassel Body #2931556000.
Use EasyAdjust Key
Over time, the bottom rail of your shade may become slightly uneven due to use or installation. The EasyAdjust™ key lets you fine-tune each side of the rail to ensure your shade hangs level and looks its best. To use the EasyAdjust™ key follow the steps below.
- Lift the bottom rail and locate the adjustment pockets on the underside.
-
Insert a 7/64" Allen wrench (EasyAdjust™ key) into a pocket.
- The key is fully inserted when the ring on the key presses firmly against the pocket opening.
- Note: The key must be fully seated to avoid stripping the mechanism.
-
Turn clockwise to raise that side of the rail, or counterclockwise to lower it.
- One-quarter turn equals approximately 1/4 inch of movement.
-
Raise and lower the shade after each adjustment to check for level alignment.
- Note: Do not pull down on the rail while turning the key.

Level Fabric Panel
- Using a flat blade screwdriver, hold the cord from the cam lock and turn the buttons ¼ way around counter-clockwise (left) to unlock.
- If the rail needs to be raised, firmly hold onto the cord and pull upwards until the rail is level.
- If the rail needs to lowered, keep tension on the cord and gently lower the rail.
-
Lock the cam lock buttons by turning ¼ way around clockwise (right).
Adjust Cord Clip
If the cords on the middle rail aren’t aligned properly, your shade may lift unevenly or develop skew over time. Adjusting the cord clips helps ensure smooth operation and keeps the fabric panels level when raising or lowering the shade.
-
Check alignment of cords on the middle rail.
-
Loosen set screws on the cord clips using a #1 Phillips screwdriver. Push the clear cord clip to the center to align with the lift cords coming from the headrail.
- Re-tighten set screws to hold the cord clips in place.
- Cycle the shade a few times and check to make sure the lift cords are still aligned. Readjust if necessary.
Adjust Top-Down/Bottom-Up Middle Rail Skew
If the middle rail appears tilted or off-center when the shade is raised or lowered, it may cause uneven stacking or strain on the lift cords. Adjusting the cord clips helps realign the rail so it moves smoothly and sits level with the headrail.
- Use a #1 Phillips screwdriver to loosen the set screws, which secure the cord clips in place on the middle rail, by two revolutions.
-
Push the clear cord clips in the direction of the rail skew until the middle rail appears centered with the headrail.
-
Cycle the shade to make sure the middle rail is aligned with the headrail and the lift cords are still perpendicular.
- Re-tighten set screws to hold the cord clips in place.
Repair Service Eligibility
Most other repairs for Vignette® Roman Shades with stacking style require specialized tools, technical skill, or replacement parts, and must be completed by a qualified repair professional. However, tasks such as attaching the universal cord tensioner, installing magnetic hold-down brackets, replacing the LiteRise® handle, attaching the designer tassel, using the EasyAdjust key (after April 2012), leveling the fabric panel, adjusting the cord clip, and correcting top-down/bottom-up middle rail skew can typically be completed at home.
Due to low part availability, the Architella® style and 2-on-1 headrail configurations with Legacy PowerView® may have limited service options. Additionally, the UltraGlide® with cord operating system is only supported at a limited number of repair locations.
