Summary:
How to set up PowerView® Gen 3 shades after moving into a new home, including transferring ownership of a PowerView Home, accepting ownership, or taking ownership when a Home was not transferred.
Applies To:
PowerView® Gen 3, PowerView App, Motorized Shades, Gateway
If a home with PowerView® Automation shades is sold, the PowerView Home associated with those shades must be transferred to the new homeowner so they can control and manage the system.
There are three possible scenarios:
The current owner transfers the Home to the new owner
The new owner accepts a Home that was transferred to them
The new owner takes ownership when the Home was not transferred or was deleted
How to Transfer Ownership of a Home
(Current Owner or Installer)
Open the PowerView App and select the Home you want to transfer.
Select the More tab in the bottom-right corner.
Select Users.
Select Transfer Home Ownership.

Choose how to send the invite:

Email
The email address must match the new homeowner’s PowerView Account email.

Shared link
Can be sent via text, AirDrop, WhatsApp, or similar.

Once sent, the new homeowner must accept ownership to complete the transfer.
After ownership is accepted:
The new owner may remove the previous owner, or
Allow continued access temporarily
If the previous owner needs to remove themselves later:
From the Home Dashboard, select the Home name.
Select Info & Options.
Select Leave Home.
How to Accept Ownership of a Home
(New Homeowner)
To accept ownership, you must have:
The PowerView App installed
A PowerView Account
Click the invite link sent by email or shared link.
If prompted, download the PowerView App (iOS or Android).

Open the app and sign in to your PowerView Account.
If you don’t have one, select Don’t Have an Account? and follow the steps to create it.
Select Accept Ownership and follow the guided setup.
Managing Users After Accepting Ownership
After accepting ownership, you can manage who has access to the Home.
Choose whether to keep or remove previous users.

Invite new users by:
Email (must match their PowerView Account email), or
Shared link (text, AirDrop, WhatsApp, etc.)
User access levels:
Complete Access: Full control except transferring or deleting the Home
Basic Access: Control shades and activate Scenes only
Remove User: No access
You can update users anytime:
More → Users → Add (+) or edit permissions
Manage User Access and Permission Levels
After accepting ownership of a PowerView® Home, you can control who has access and what they are allowed to do.
To manage users:
Open the PowerView App.
Select the Home.
Tap More.
Tap Users.
Select a user’s name to update their access level.
Available permission levels:
Complete Access
Allows full control of the Home, except transferring or deleting the Home.Basic Access
Allows control of shades and activation of Scenes, but not editing Scenes, Schedules, or system settings.Remove User
Removes all access to the Home, shades, and accessories.
Changes take effect immediately.
(Optional) Reconfiguring an Existing Gateway
If the Gateway is already installed, it must be connected to the new home’s Wi-Fi network.
Select More → Accessories → Gateways.
Select the Gateway name.
Select Info & Options → Wi-Fi.
Select Forget This Network.
Select Wi-Fi again and connect to the new network following the app prompts.
How to Take Ownership When a Home Was Not Transferred
If the PowerView Home was not transferred or was deleted, you can still take ownership directly from the shades.
Taking Ownership of an Existing Home
Download and open the PowerView App.
Sign in or create a PowerView Account.

With the app open, press and hold the control button on one of the existing PowerView shades.

On the motor side of the shade, facing either outwards toward the room or downward will be a small button, the “control button.” This is most commonly on the right-hand side.
- A quick press of the control button will activate the shade, either raising or lowering the window treatment. Doing this will confirm the shade is receiving power and is operational.

Press and hold the control button for roughly 5 seconds. The button will illuminate amber and an action list will appear in the app.

Select Take Ownership of This Home.
Confirm and complete the setup.
Tip: If there is not an option to select Take Ownership of this Home, the Home may not exist or may have been deleted. In this case, refer to the instructions below: If the Home Was Deleted.
If the Home Was Deleted
If Take Ownership of This Home does not appear, the Home may no longer exist.
Press and hold the shade’s control button for about 5 seconds.
Select Factory Reset Shade in the app.

Follow the guided steps to:
Create a new Home
Add the shade(s)
Once completed, the Dashboard will appear and normal operation can begin.

From the Dashboard, you can:
Control shades
Create Scenes and Schedules
Manage accessories and users
